Soon there…

Finally back in good old Singapore again. Been here a week already now, a week full of meetings and discussions about how and what to do about it all regarding my book  Can!.

I started by visiting my publisher Kenny Leck at BooksActually in my favourite hood, Tiong Bahru. This is also the neighbourhood where I used to stay in when I was living here. We agreed upon that there was plenty to do, but that we’ll work it out bit ny bit.
Next stop was the Embassy of Sweden to meet up with my dear friend Gunilla and the Deputy Head of Mission, Karin Öhman. I also had a brief encounter with the ambassador himself, Mr Ingemar Dolfe. We all agreed upon that it would be great if we can do something together again regarding the launch of my book. To promote and to highlight Sweden and Swedish entrepreneurship and design. Lovely!

The day after I had a great meeting with the Swedish Pastor at the Swedish Church in Singapore, Mr Gudmund Erling. A guy with a lot of stuff going on and with a heart and soul that the Swedish congregation should be proud of and take care and advantage of. I really, really hope that we can work together for the food at the launch

I have done a lot of e-mailing and networking around with my friends and comerades in town. At the same time I have tried to spend some leisure time with my extended family.

I have a nice gut-feeling about it all, and I hope that the launch on the 31st October at Sculpture Square will be a smashing hit for everybody involved.

About Entrepreneurship

”Entrepreneurship is something that carries on all the time, with everyday things mixed with the most exciting and fascinating projects and deals. Everyday chores can include book-keeping, payments, sending out quotations, cleaning, planning, coaching and so on. Some of the things you do subconsciously, without thinking that you actually are leading your staff, checking the market, building relationships and creating new business opportunities. When everything is doing well, it is a fantastic mess of happenings where one thing leads on to another.

As an entrepreneur you have to be open minded and ”when in Rome, do as the Romans do” to make sure things happen the way you want them to. The culture, your own and the society’s, will stir and influence you. Scarce resources and bottlenecks will become an everyday issue that you have to contend with. Many times it will be like working as a fire-fighter – it feels like you are just running around headfirst, even though you have a plan.”

From the book ”Can! –  The story of when I became an international entrepreneur”

Background

Singapore

Background

During my years as an international entrepreneur I noticed a lack of interaction towards my company from Swedish companies within the design and lifestyle segment which was our focus. I was told about that many small and medium enterprises in Sweden were not interested in looking into new markets.
For me, this kind of inertia can be devastating for a company in the long run.
From this point of view, the idea of starting to share my knowledge and experience about the importance of being curious and see possibilities for a company, and for a manager.
I saw a chance to be able to help other entrepreneurs that has”got stuck” in the work of moving ahead towards new goals, by using my competence within business development. To build up the spirit within SME’s to continue moving forward towards greater earnings and adventures.

I got a hint from our ambassador in Singapore to write and tell about my experiences as an international entrepreneur, which I have done. At the same time this opened my eyes to help the mentioned industry start to look at international markets in a new way. These experiences combined with my academic education triggered me to once again start my own company, Jonas Ericsson Generating AB.

Bakgrund

Networks

Singapore port

SME’s and other players on the local markets in Sweden, Singapore and rest of the world, have to start to create and make use of different networks  to be able to set a foundation for an eventual export later on. The local and regional markets in Singapore and Sweden are too small in our globalized market of today 2012.
Nowadays it has become so much easier to build up your own networks to get your hands on new opportunities and possible possibilities within and outside your current market.
I just say; Facebook, Twitter and last but not least, LinkedIn.

Working on this website

Today I’ll continue to work with this website. It’s very exciting since I have no clue in how to do it, haha. But as i always say, you learn something everyday.
I will update all the texts in to English as soon as possible so you people from abroad knows what I’m writing.

Tomorrow I will have another session of the ”talk-training” that I’m doing at the moment. I have to improve my talking skills so people actually will know what I’m talking about. I will do a talk about my book ”CAN! – The story of when I became an international entrepreneur”
Isn’t that just so cool, haha

Ok, take care for now and keep in touch

Cheers/ Jonas
